Youth is a double-edged sword, right? On the one hand employerslove it because it means you have energy, charisma, and the fact that you mightbe the future leader of the company if they groom you just right. On the otherhand…why pick a college graduate whenthere’s a more experience professional willing to do the job for just a teenybit more pay?
Is this topic really that black and white? Are there justtwo sides to this coin and that is the reality we have to accept?
Not really. In fact, it’s more like a pie cut into threeslices (mmm…pie).
The truth is, there are three groups of employers out there;the first being those who are onlyaiming to recruit more experienced folk (more bang for their buck) for entry-level jobs. This group usually thinks more about what’s on paper than what’s sitting in thechair in front of them.
The second group of employers is the one who is looking tohire some “new blood” if you will – a young, innovative mind, topped off with undeniablepassion and an electric go-getter attitude. Youth simply tickles their fancy and that’sthat. Inexperience will not throw your candidacy away here.
